Jumping in with both feet

I can not believe what I've just done.  After much discussion with Drew and a close friend, with a lot of experience, we've decided that I'm going to try homeschooling Jackson next year for preschool.  I've just changed Drew's dependent care account with work, so it's official.  I am totally freaked out, but I know this is what the Lord has for us next year.  It's something we've been praying about for a couple of years and it's just become apparent that I need to at least try it.  It's no secret that I'm not art minded, so Jackson is going to go to an art and spanish class once a week that came highly recommended.  Other than that it's all me.  Because of how his birthday falls he wouldn't even be in real preschool yet, he would be in a 3/4 year old class, so if I (or we) hate it then he'll go to preschool the next year.  I am waiting expectantly to see how the Lord will meet us as we walk this new road.  I know that there will be a lot of lessons that I need to learn in doing this.  If nothing else this is all be part of the Refiner's fire.

And he's off...

Davis took his first steps!  He's been cruising for quite a while now and he's been watching Jackson run circles around him so I guess he's decided it's time to do something about it.  Jackson was at school so I had time to focus.  I knew what would get his attention quickly, my keys.  I stood him up, he got his balance and he took one step, then fell.  We did it again and he took 2 steps!  That's as far as we got, but it was very exciting!  Luckily I got it on camera!  This house is about to be a wild rompus!

Happy Birthday Davis!

Today is Davis' 1st Birthday and we did it right!  Mimi was in town for business yesterday, so she stayed with us to help us get ready.  We started the day off with one of Davis' favorite breakfasts, cinnamon toast.  Then it was time for presents.  We gave him a giraffe lovey that he picked up a few weeks back that he loves and a new blanket, since he refuses to sleep in a sleep sack.
He was so excited to see his giraffe lovey again!
Next, time for the party!  We had a lot of our friends and family over to help us celebrate.  We had so much fun!  Davis liked his smash cake, but didn't make too much of a mess.

After the party and naps, it was off to the zoo!

We had a lot of fun at the zoo, but we worked up a big appetite.  I tried and tried to think about what the birthday boy would like for his birthday supper and we came up with the Varsity!  Unfortunately it was a complete madhouse, so we didn't get any cute pictures.  We all ate such a good supper that Drew and I all decided we deserved a little dessert, so it was off to Krispy Kreme!  It's about time Davis tasted a little bit of heaven anyway since he's never had a doughnut.  As soon as the lady found out it was Davis' birthday and he has never had doughnuts we were in for it.  She gave us a few doughnuts for free that she picked out just so he could have "options".  He didn't care about options, he loved them all!

It was a great time had by all!  I can't believe my little one is 1.

After all the fun, here is Davis' info for this month:
1.  Davis is 24 lbs 7 oz and 30 7/8" long (both 90%).
2.  He is wearing a size 18-24 mth.
3.  He is officially on whole milk and totally fine with it.
4.  Davis still takes 2 naps a day.  One from about 11-12:30 and one from about 3-4:30.
5.   He is cruising around the house and I'm just waiting for him to take off.
6.  As mentioned earlier he will not sleep in a sleep sack anymore, only cotton footie pjs with a blanket over him.
