Beach trip

We took our annual beach trip with my family over Memorial Day weekend and we had a blast.  Jackson was a little scared of the water, but we turned a baby pool into a boat for the cousins and they loved it.  Davis didn't spend a lot of time on the beach.  We tried our best to get him to take naps out there under an umbrella, but it was unsuccessful.  Obviously he didn't take after me too much because I don't know of many things I like more than sleeping on the beach.

Davis has popped his 2 bottom teeth though and it just seems so early.  Apparently it's just on the early side of normal.  I can't believe he's already old enough for that!

Last day

Today was Jackson's last day of Mother's Day Out for this school year.  I can not believe this school year has gone by so fast!  I know it's going to keep going faster.  I thought I would take a picture of him for his last day and compare it to his first day to see how much he's grown.
First day of school

Look how much he's grown!

And of course Davis is new to this too!

A mother's hands

When I was growing up I never appreciated all the junk that my mom put up with.  Clean your face with spit?  Sure!  Hold your nasty, half-chewed gum?  Yeah!  Clean up your puke?  Sign me up!  Really?  I guess I'm just getting it all back.  I don't know what happened to my brain when I had kids, but something changed.  Now there's a link (or 2) missing.  Perfect example, this morning we were trying to get out the door to go to Bible study and Jackson had something on his shirt.  He had eaten waffles and syrup, so it made sense that it was syrup.  Why didn't I get a napkin to get it off?  Because I'm a mom now.  I just wiped it with my hand, smelled it and was a little confused.  It didn't smell like syrup.  Then I had one of those flashbacks like you see in a movie.  It was like my memories went on rewind and then stopped.  Jackson sneezed about 10 minutes ago.  Yep, I had just stuck my hand in his nasty snotted sneeze.  Gross!  Right as I washed my hand from that yumminess I heard Davis working on a little diaper present.  Time to go to my next duty.  As I'm sliding the clean diaper under him my hand hits something wet.  Poop under my nails.  Awesome.  My hands are so dry from all the washing at this point!  I felt like we were never going to get out the door!  So thank you mom for touching all the nasty stuff no one else would.  Don't worry I'm taking one for the team now.

What is this?

Wow so Davis officially has a tooth.  I knew it was coming, but I didn't expect it quite yet.  He woke up this morning with one of his bottom front teeth.  And the fun begins for the next year and a half.  I figured since he had this new tooth he might as well make good use of it.  It's time for some baby oatmeal.  Yeah, he didn't love it.  He did eat some of it, he wasn't excited about it, but he did it.  Then after a few minutes he just stuck his tongue out and wouldn't let the spoon back in.  I can't blame him that stuff smells gross.  Now we've opened the door to eating baby foods though!  I'm hoping this little extra food will help him make the jump to 12 hours (last night was 10 hrs. 45 min.).  Here we go!

4 months

So I'm a couple of days late on this, but it was a crazy weekend.  Let's catch up for 4 months:

1.  Davis is sleeping 9-10 hours at night and eats every 3 during the day.
2.  He wears a size 6-9 month
3.  He weighs 16 lbs 9 oz and is 25.5" long.
4.  He is definitely ticklish and he already thinks Jackson is funny.

We are headed South to the beach next week.  This is going to be wild!

Sneezing fits and nonsense

Poor little Davis has allergies.  I was hoping all our kids would skate through life without worrying about what season it was, but no such luck.  Davis may have sneezed 30 times today already.  Sadly there's really nothing I can do to help him.  His only chance of getting any help from me is a warm bath cloth on his eyes.  It is amazing how calm he is when I cover his eyes up though.  Don't ostriches stick their head in the sand and calm down?  Something like that.  Pitiful.

Davis has finally decided to show off his rolling ability in front of me.  The problem is he's gotten so good at rolling to his stomach that he does it and then gets stuck.  I just keep picturing that little boy in The Christmas Story with his tongue stuck to the flag pole.  Needless to say, as his trainer, I've been making him do more tummy time when he's awake.  We have to get this boy rolling to his back so I don't have to flip him like a pancake at night!

The rest of our days are spent hanging around the house and snuggling up.  At least until Jackson decides to chase Duke with some random toy.  Poor Duke.
