Sticky fingers

I don't know what to say about what went down today at lunch.  Jackson and I went to lunch with a few friends to discuss final details of a baby shower coming up and Jackson had been pretty good.  We got a vegetable plate and he had eaten a good bit so I thought things were going to be just fine.  I did have to fend of a little hand from my cornbread a few times, but things were alright.  I guess I should've known that the little trickster was up to no good when I turned to look at him and he had grabbed a huge fistful of cornbread and was about to rub it in his hair.  I'm sure it would've looked great, but not today.  This restaurant brings each guest a tootsie roll with the check for dessert.  There is nothing like a good tootsie roll, but I knew better than to eat it right in front of Jackson.  So being so smart I stuck it in my purse and went ahead and put my purse on my shoulder for safe keeping.  I grabbed Jackson and started scooting out of the booth.  I looked back at him and the booth to see what kind of disaster site we were leaving when I saw it "What do you have in your mouth?!"  That's right, he had dug in my purse without me even feeling it, gotten out the tootsie roll and taken a bite paper and all.  I took it out of his mouth, but by this time he had slobbered all over the rest of it.  So, there goes my tootsie roll.  I guess next time I should just eat it in front of him.  That's what I get for trying to be careful.

Saddle up

And the riding has begun.  I don't know if Duke can understand "I'm sorry", but I've already tried saying it for what Jackson has realized he can do.  All I can say is thank the Lord we have the most patient dog of all time.  Let me just explain and then you'll understand just how good Duke is.  Lazy Duke was doing his usual routine and just laying around when Jackson decided it was time to try to ride him like a horse.  So Duke was rudely awakened to a 30 pound toddler sitting on his ribcage and bouncing up and down.  I don't even like when Jackson sits on my ribcage.  The kid is heavy!  Duke didn't even move, he just turned is head and looked at Jackson and then looked at me like "You've got to be kidding".  Now I will take some responsibility.  I did encourage it to an extent, but I had no idea Jackson would take over and love it.  Jackson's been climbing over Duke for a while, so I thought that's what he would do.  I'm afraid Duke's in for it.  I'm sorry bud, you'll be getting so many Greenies.

The bouncing has begun.

Cookie Monster

Wow, I've never realized how much I depended on my computer until the hard drive crashed and we had to be without one for a week.  Not cool.  I don't even know what to tell first.  Let's see Jackson started saying something besides "dada".  You might be thinking oh good it's about time he learned momma.  No, apparently it's not.  What did he come out with?  Cookie.  Really?  Where are your priorities kid?  Not that I blame him.  I love a good cookie just as much as anybody, but come on.  What he doesn't realize is if he would say "momma, cookie" he would get so many more cookies.  He'll learn that little trick later I'm sure.

He did get a surprise this week.  We all know how much he loves to climb, so we decided it was time for him to have a Jackson sized chair.  So cute.  He loves it and the big box it came in.  It's perfect for watching a good episode of Curious George and eating a cookie.

Cookie time!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I can not believe it's already Valentine's Day again!!  I just had lunch with my friend Lily and she reminded me of last year's Valentine's pictures.  I could not get Jackson to sit up for anything, but at least it turned into a good laugh.  This year is a lot different.  I still have a problem getting him to sit, but it's not sitting up it's sitting still!  I had to chase him all around the front yard just to take a picture of him.  He loves to play outside, which is great except it finally turned cold so our time is limited out there before I make us come in the warm house.  It's crazy how Jackson doesn't seem to notice he's so cold that his nose is turning pink or that he has leaves sticking out of his shoes because he's wandered over close to the woods again.  I see what they mean when they say boys will be boys.

The Runaway

Every night since Jackson was born he has tried to get out of putting on his pajamas.  It just blows my mind.  Why in the world would you not want to put on the most comfortable thing ever and climb in your bed and sleep?  So every night we've gone through this whiney fight but then it's off like a switch once the pj's are on.  Now that Jackson's walking it's made things a bit more interesting.  I am a bit more familiar with Jackson and his shenanigans, but Drew is always amazed.  Tonight was just another fugitive trying to jump bail.  Luckily his shirt got stuck on his head so he wasn't able to get away as easily as he thought.  Busted once again.  I'm sure he'll try again tomorrow.
Ready to tackle anyone in his way

Mugshot...busted

Please have mercy on me.
