Why is it that the winter that breaks all records and we get the first white Christmas in forever is the winter that our heater decides to stop working? It had happened a few weeks ago, but we thought we had fixed it...apparently not. Yesterday evening Drew and I realized it was pretty chilly in the house and soon we noticed that the vents were blowing cool air. Perfect. When it was time for Jackson to go to bed it was 63 degrees in the house but we hoped for the best. Yeah, that last about an hour and he was awake and his face was chilly. We fought that battle twice before I realized we weren't going to win. I grabbed by new amazing robe, slippers and a big blanket and headed for his room. We snuggled up together like 2 bugs in a rug trying to stay warm. I think he was more successful than I was. This morning when Drew was heading out the door he popped his head in and said that it was 55 degrees in the house. Yep, that sounded about right. The back of my knees were frozen where I couldn't cover them all night, but we had made it! He hadn't slept completely through the night, but it was a lot better than it would've been. My joints were so achy when I stood up out of that chair I felt like that 1 night aged me about 60 years! Oh the things we do for our little ones.
