What a crazy couple of weeks! First of all we had an incredible Christmas and it was kind of nice being so pregnant because all the family came to us! Jackson had a lot of fun with his cousins from both sides and got some really cool things. One of them being some Thomas the Train pieces which he has barely put down and walks around the house saying "Choo choo! Choo choo!" He is going to have a little toddler fit when he sees what Davis is going to give him when he comes!
I think it was the week before Christmas I had to go to the OB for them to check my fluid levels. That's when we all realized that Davis is not going to be just a normal baby. The OB decided that I needed an ultrasound just to double check. During the ultrasound they're looking at the lungs and the heart, you know the main stuff. Then the tech says "Now, when is your due date?" and I said "January 18". She looked at me and said "Well that's what the computer says, but he's measuring 2 weeks big." What?! At that point I was technically 34 weeks and 4 days, but according to Davis' femur length he was 36 weeks and 4 days. Ummm ok. After the ultrasound was over I took the report back to my OB for her to look at real quick before I could leave. She did a double take and laughed. It was at that point when she started to call him the gargantuan baby. See up to this point I had been measuring right on my due date, but apparently Davis hit a growth spurt and shocked everyone. Since then I have had another ultrasound where a different tech made the same comments and even said his foot looked like a flipper it was so big (over 8 cm to be exact). Her comment was "Try to take that to Stride Rite!". After that my OB said "Ok, IF you're still pregnant in 2 weeks (which would be Jan. 2), then we'll do another ultrasound and if he's still measuring this big we'll induce early.". So today I went just for a check up and she confirmed that he is really big and we set up an induction date a week earlier than my original due date as a "back up date". My OB was laughing at me and how big Davis was measuring. You know the old saying "you have to laugh or else you'll cry"? Yeah, so I laughed too. As of now I'll have another ultrasound next week and we'll induce the following week on January 11. My OB was very clear that she would not be surprised at all if I have him before that date, but she also said she would hate for me to deliver a 10 lb. baby. Ummm me too! So, I've started calling Davis Heavy D for obvious reasons!
